Over-the-Air Computation in Correlated Channels

چکیده
Over-the-Air (OTA) computation is the problem of computing functions distributed data without transmitting entirety to a central point. By avoiding such costly transmissions, OTA schemes can achieve better-than-linear (depending on function, often logarithmic or even constant) scaling communication cost as number transmitters grows. Among most common computed are linear weighted sums. In this work, we propose and analyze an analog scheme for class that contains well some nonlinear $p$-norms vectors. We prove error bound guarantees valid fast-fading channels all distributions fading noise contained in sub-Gaussian distributions. This includes Gaussian distributions, but also many other practically relevant cases Class A Middleton with dominant line-of-sight components. addition, there be correlations so presented results apply to, example, block bursty interference. do not rely any stochastic characterization arguments function; particular, no assumption these drawn from identical independent probability Our analysis nonasymptotic therefore provides bounds finite channel uses. has huge potential reducing applications Machine Learning (ML)-based anomaly detection large wireless sensor networks. illustrate through extensive numerical simulations.

Over-the-Air Computation in MIMO Multi-Access Channels: Beamforming and Channel Feedback
Future Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks are expected to wirelessly connect billions of sensors. It is impractical to collect data from the massive population of sensors using any traditional orthogonal multi-access scheme that leads to excessive latency. To tackle the challenge, a technique called over-theair computation (AirComp) was recently developed to enable a data-fusion to receive a des...
متن کاملRandom Beamforming over Correlated Fading Channels
We study a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multiple access channel (MAC) from several multi-antenna transmitters to a multi-antenna receiver. The fading channels between the transmitters and the receiver are modeled by random matrices, composed of independent column vectors with zero mean and different covariance matrices. Each transmitter is assumed to send multiple data streams with a r...
متن کاملError control mechanisms over correlated fading channels
This paper considers the application of Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) schemes over correlated wireless channels. In particular the depth of the interleaver and its influence on the frame-error-rate and transmission delay in the presence of Correlated fading and delay constraints is investigated. It is found that an increased interleaver depth in a correlated ...
متن کاملOver-the-air Function Computation in Sensor Networks
Many sensor applications are interested in computing a function over measurements (e.g., sum, average, max) as opposed to collecting all sensor data. Today, such data aggregation is done in a cluster-head. Sensor nodes transmit their values sequentially to a cluster-head node, which calculates the aggregation function and forwards it to the base station. In contrast, this paper explores the pos...
متن کاملReliable Computation over Multiple-Access Channels
In the standard multiple-access problem, a central access point needs to reconstruct the signals observed by each user separately. Suppose now that the access point only reconstructs the sum (or any other function) of these observed signals. For this problem, we develop strategies and information-theoretic performance bounds. It is shown that in general, separating source from channel coding le...
